Planning Commission takes over Suisun Valley event center and changes zoning use

FAIRFIELD – The Solano County Planning Commission will review on Thursday use changes in agricultural and commercial highway areas and consider a use permit for a barn-style special event center project in the Valley of I am a.

Construction of the midsize 4,738 square foot facility would be located at 2208 Morrison Lane and host fewer than 12 events per year. A guest studio and a second home on the property are part of the proposal. The property is located in the Agriculture-Suisun Valley zoning district.

The commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Supervisory Board Chamber on the first floor of the Government Center, 675 Texas St., in Fairfield.

In an unrelated case, the zoning administrator at 10 a.m. Thursday will review the approval of a use permit for a small cellar and tasting room and what is described as a special non-commercial event installation of medium size at 2212 Morrison Lane.

The panel will also hold a public hearing on the proposed changes to the zoning ordinance, primarily the revised definitions and new uses permitted in agricultural areas.

The Airport Land Use Commission determined on Thursday that none of the changes would affect airport operations in the region. These uses include things like commercial greenhouses and robotics related to agriculture.

Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and retail stores are also proposed uses for the county’s agri-tourism areas.
