Planning Commission Hosts Strategic Transportation Planning Session
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission held a strategic transportation planning session at the Scottish Rite Theater on Thursday.
The main talking points were the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and how community members can organize a broader vision of the local transportation system.
Former US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood was the keynote speaker.
“Congress bipartisanly passed a trillion dollar transportation bill, that’s more money than ever for transportation in the history of our country,” LaHood said.
LaHood encourages the community to take advantage of the funding and prioritize the projects the community should ask the money to be spent on.
“If we act together, if we have a game plan, if we have our priorities that everyone agrees on, we will be part of a community that can improve our infrastructure,” LaHood said.
The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission plans to review the information gathered during today’s session on what changes community members would like to see invested in.
